About this program
ACU's IT degree is built around a deliberately broad first year (ITEC100 Information Technology in Action, ITEC105 Cybersecurity For Everyone, ITEC201 Fundamentals of Information Technology) before students specialise, and it lets students borrow electives from any other ACU bachelor degree, so a student leaning toward health informatics could pick up health science units, or one leaning toward fintech could add business units, without a formal double degree.
A required community engagement unit, BIPX202, puts a strengths-based service component into what's otherwise a fairly technical degree, which is a bit unusual for an IT program of this size: most comparable degrees leave community or service learning out entirely.
Minimum duration is three years full-time. It suits students who want breadth across programming, data management and cybersecurity fundamentals rather than committing early to one narrow specialisation, and who are open to picking up complementary units from business or health disciplines along the way.

- Year 3: Advanced programming and systems units, capstone IT project unit, further electives from ITEC or other ACU degrees
- Structure: foundation units, IT-specified units, and a flexible elective pool drawn from ITEC offerings or any ACU bachelor course
