Master of Business Administration
Australian Institute of Business, Adelaide, SA, Australia
About this program
AIB built its name as Australia's largest online MBA provider, and the structure reflects that scale: twelve subjects total, delivered in eight-week terms with a built-in reflection week, so students can either double up and finish in twelve months or take one subject per term over two years. There's no residential requirement and no fixed intake calendar in the way a campus MBA works: the whole thing runs through AIB's own Student Learning Portal, with 24/7 access to material.
The degree is staged rather than all-or-nothing: the first four subjects constitute a Graduate Certificate in Management, the first eight a Graduate Diploma in Management, and all twelve the MBA. That means a student who has to step out partway still leaves with a recognised qualification rather than nothing. Lectures in the traditional sense are largely replaced by case studies, structured discussion and workplace-relevant assignments, on the logic that most MBA students are already working managers who need the coursework to connect directly to decisions they're making at work, not abstract theory.
Students who don't want to commit to one of the five available specialisations (Finance, Entrepreneurial Management, Marketing Management, Human Resource Management, or Logistics and Supply Chain Management) can take the generalist MBA, which finishes with a capstone project addressing a real business problem, often drawn from the student's own workplace.
