Bachelor of Music Theatre

Australian Institute of Music, Sydney, NSW, Australia

About this program

Music Theatre at AIM trains across four disciplines at once: singing, dancing, acting, and creating, with one-on-one tuition in singing, dancing, and acting rather than folding those into shared group classes, an unusually resource-heavy structure for a music theatre degree.

Performance Skills units build the singing-actor specifically: students apply contemporary acting technique to vocal performance while deepening technical vocal work, rather than treating singing and acting as separate skills bolted together. Masterclasses, ensemble work, and live performance aren't extracurricular add-ons here; they're written directly into the coursework and assessed as part of it.

Delivery is face-to-face with some online components, typical for AIM's performance-based majors generally but worth noting for a discipline this practice-heavy: most of the actual training still happens in a studio or rehearsal room rather than online. Graduates head into professional music theatre, cabaret, and commercial theatre work, and the degree's dual training in singing and acting technique is built specifically for the audition demands of that industry.
