Bachelor of Arts

Avondale's Bachelor of Arts covers more scientific ground than the name implies. Biological Science, Chemistry and Mathematics all sit as available majors alongside the humanities staples (English, History, Music, Communication, Religious Studies), a structural quirk that comes from Avondale folding its science majors into the BA rather than running them exclusively through the Bachelor of Science. Students pick an 8-unit major and can add a 4-unit minor from the same list, or take strands borrowed from Business or Ministry and Theology to build a more interdisciplinary profile.

The Communication major is the one with a defined career on-ramp built into the structure: it requires a professional internship in the final year, placing students with media, marketing, or communications employers rather than leaving that experience to chance. Chaplaincy is the other major with embedded work-integrated learning, reflecting Avondale's role training pastoral and chaplaincy staff for Adventist schools and hospitals across the region.
