Bachelor of Fashion
Box Hill Institute, Melbourne, VIC, Australia
About this program
Box Hill Institute has run fashion design and merchandising training out of its Box Hill campus for decades, well before it offered bachelor's degrees at all, and the Bachelor of Fashion sits on top of that vocational base rather than starting from scratch as a purely academic program. The broader fashion degree family here splits 12 core units, 10 major units, and 6 electives across three years: pattern-making, garment construction, and textiles knowledge sit alongside business, marketing, and enterprise units rather than treating design as a purely creative pursuit separate from the commercial reality of running a label.
Students work with industry-standard equipment and, depending on the trimester, contribute to Box Hill's own fashion parades and graduate showcases, a public, portfolio-building event that functions as an informal industry pitch rather than a purely internal assessment.
Career paths lean toward fashion design, garment technology, buying and merchandising, and small-label entrepreneurship, reflecting Box Hill's applied, business-aware take on fashion education rather than a purely runway-focused design school model.
