Bachelor of Information Technology

Charles Sturt University, Multi-campus, regional NSW, Australia

About this program

CSU's standard Bachelor of Information Technology runs to 192 points across fourteen core subjects plus an eight-subject specialisation, and the specialisation choice (Cyber Security, Network Engineering, Software and Application Development, or Web Development) is really what defines the degree for each student, since the core is shared. Most students take it through CSU's online delivery model, which the university has run at scale for decades rather than as a pandemic-era add-on.

The Software specialisation starts from basic programming principles and builds to professional application and mobile development; Web Development covers page design, usability and e-commerce build-out; the others go deeper into infrastructure and security. A joint study option lets a student borrow five subjects from an unrelated discipline (business, criminology, and similar are common pairings) and have that show up alongside their specialisation title, which is a genuinely distinctive feature compared with a standard single-strand IT degree elsewhere.
