Bachelor of Nursing

Charles Sturt University, Multi-campus, regional NSW, Australia

About this program

Nursing at CSU is spread across several regional campuses, including Bathurst, Orange, Wagga Wagga, Albury-Wodonga and Port Macquarie, reflecting the university's original mandate to train health workers for country NSW and Victoria, and clinical placements tend to happen in regional hospitals and community health settings rather than only in large metropolitan teaching hospitals. That regional placement mix is a genuine point of difference: graduates come out with direct experience in settings with less specialist backup, which rural health services value.

The course meets national registration standards (accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia through ANMAC) and combines science-heavy first-year subjects (anatomy, physiology, pharmacology) with progressively more clinical subjects and supervised placement blocks each year, totalling well over 800 hours of clinical placement by graduation, in line with national requirements. Students graduate eligible to register as a Registered Nurse.
