Major choice spans Chemical, Civil, Electrical and Electronic, Mechanical, Mining, Petroleum, and Software Engineering. The Mining and Petroleum options in particular reflect Curtin's position as the go-to engineering school for Western Australia's resources sector, with a research and industry-partnership base (WA School of Mines heritage feeds into some of this) that eastern-states universities generally can't match for those two majors specifically.

The final-year major research or design project is meant to genuinely integrate everything from the coursework rather than function as an add-on.
