About this program
Curtin's Master of Computing is built for career-changers rather than CS undergrads looking to specialise further. The entry requirements assume a bachelor's degree plus some demonstrated programming, operating systems, and computing maths background, and the first stretch of the course deliberately re-teaches fundamentals before splitting into the three available majors: Computer Science, Cyber Security, or Artificial Intelligence.
What distinguishes it from a lot of one-size-fits-all computing conversion masters is the credit arrangement for Curtin's own graduates. Someone who already did a Bachelor of Technology or Bachelor of Computing at Curtin can be granted up to a full semester of credit, effectively turning this into an 18-month top-up for internal students while still running as a full two-year program for outsiders.
The major project in the final stage is where the specialisation actually gets tested. Students in the Cyber Security stream, for instance, end up doing something closer to an applied security research piece than a generic capstone, which matters given Perth's growing resources-sector demand for industrial cyber security skills specifically, an angle Curtin leans into given its mining and energy industry connections.

- Credit: up to one semester's credit available for Curtin Bachelor of Technology or Bachelor of Computing graduates
