Bachelor of Criminology and Justice

This degree treats the criminal justice system as a single connected pipeline rather than teaching law, policing, courts, and corrections as separate silos. Students trace how a case moves from lawmaking through policing, prosecution, courts, and corrections, and examine how "justice" gets defined differently by different groups along the way. It draws explicitly on political science, psychology, sociology, and law as contributing disciplines rather than being housed purely within a law school framework, which shapes it toward a more social-science-flavoured criminology than a pre-law degree.

Two named majors, policing and youth work, let students specialise fairly early, and the degree's signature applied component is the Criminal Justice Review Project, a work-integrated learning unit where students conduct real review work connected to a justice agency rather than a simulated case study. Placements and industry-based projects with WA criminal justice agencies (police, courts, corrections, youth services) run alongside the 11 core units that anchor the degree regardless of major.

Graduates commonly move into policing, youth justice, corrections, community corrections, court administration, or policy roles within WA's justice and human services sector, and the degree can also combine with a Bachelor of Laws for students who want law and criminology credentials together.
