Bachelor of Psychological Science

This is Federation's APAC-accredited undergraduate entry point into psychology, available both on-campus and fully online, a mode flexibility that matters because a lot of accredited psychology sequences are campus-only, which shuts out regional and working students who still want the registration pathway. Federation counts 15 core units alongside eight elective units across the degree, with first year covering biological and cognitive psychology, research methods and statistics, the unglamorous but non-negotiable groundwork every accredited psych degree has to include.

What gets covered across the three years spans developmental, cognitive, social, abnormal and personality psychology, giving graduates a genuinely broad base rather than an early narrow specialisation, which fits the reality that Australian psychology training pushes specialisation into postgraduate study rather than undergraduate level. Graduates who want to become registered psychologists need to continue on to an accredited fourth year (Honours or Graduate Diploma) and then either two years of supervised practice or two years of postgraduate study. Federation is explicit about this pathway rather than implying the bachelor's degree alone is a practising qualification, which is a distinction some students don't fully grasp before enrolling.

The online version runs at roughly 10+ hours of study per week, aimed at students balancing work or family commitments who can't attend on campus.
