The Bachelor of Business at Federation runs a genuinely common first year across Management, Marketing, Creativity and Innovation, Accounting and Finance, Economics, Statistics and Law before students commit to a major, a deliberately soft entry that lets students who arrive unsure what kind of business career they want switch direction without losing credit. From second year, the major choice narrows to Management, Marketing, or Banking and Finance, each with its own progression of discipline units.

What's distinctive is how open the elective slots are: students can pull interdisciplinary electives from IT, Psychology, Sociology, Environmental Science or Outdoor Studies, so a business student with an interest in, say, environmental policy can build a genuinely hybrid transcript rather than one confined to a business faculty silo. The degree also runs on Federation's co-operative education model, which folds a supervised industry placement or industry-based project directly into the award rather than leaving work experience to student initiative.

It's a broader, more exploratory degree than a specialised single-major commerce program, which suits students who want optionality more than early specialisation, though students set on chartered accounting or a specific finance career path may find Federation's separate accounting-specific degrees a tighter fit.
