Federation's engineering degree runs through its Gippsland campus and lets students choose between Civil, Mechanical, Mining or Electrical and Information Engineering streams, all under a single Engineers Australia-accredited honours degree. The Mining specialisation is worth noting specifically: Gippsland's location near Victoria's brown coal region and the university's long history training engineers for the Latrobe Valley power stations gives that stream an industry pipeline that's harder to replicate at a metro university.
