Bachelor of Aviation

Griffith's Bachelor of Aviation is one of the largest and most established aviation degrees in the country, and the theory-versus-flying split is worth understanding before enrolling: the university degree covers the academic side: aerodynamics, aviation law, human factors, meteorology, navigation and flight planning, plus simulator work in virtual reality rigs, while the actual flight hours toward a Commercial Pilot Licence are completed separately through a CASA-certified flight training provider, typically after or alongside the degree rather than bundled into Griffith's own tuition.

Griffith has articulation agreements with flight schools (Airways Aviation among them) so that students who've already completed CPL and instrument rating training through an approved provider can get credit recognised against the degree, which is the more common pathway for students who start flying first and formalise the academic side afterward.

The degree is delivered across trimesters, which lets motivated students compress the theory component faster than a standard two-semester-per-year structure would allow, and graduates go on to airline, freight, charter, agricultural aviation, and Australian Defence Force pilot pathways, plus non-flying aviation management and air traffic-adjacent roles for students who don't pursue a pilot licence at all.
