Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)

Griffith's engineering degree runs out of the Gold Coast campus and is built around a project-based studio model rather than the lecture-heavy structure older engineering schools still lean on. First-year students are put into design teams building working prototypes within the first trimester, well before they'd normally see that kind of hands-on brief elsewhere.

The Gold Coast location shapes the specialisations on offer: environmental and civil engineering streams draw on the region's coastal erosion and stormwater management challenges as live case studies, and Griffith has genuine research strength in renewable energy systems that feeds into the electrical and mechanical streams. Griffith's Engineering, Architecture and Aviation group also runs a strong Industry Affiliates Program, meaning several units are co-designed with employers like Boeing Defence Australia and Queensland's water authorities.

The honours component isn't a bolt-on year. It's integrated across the degree via a progressively weighted GPA requirement, and the final-year capstone project is assessed partly by an industry panel rather than academic staff alone, which changes how students approach the write-up and the pitch.
