Master of Business Administration
Holmes Institute, Multi-campus (Melbourne, Sydney, Gold Coast), Australia
About this program
Holmes Institute's MBA runs across its Melbourne and Sydney campuses to a full-time cohort that's overwhelmingly international, and the teaching reflects that: small seminar-style classes rather than lecture halls, with a lot of case discussion drawn from Asia-Pacific trade and services examples rather than the US case studies that dominate most MBA texts. The core is twelve units, everything from Accounting for Business Decisions through to Competitive Strategy, completed in about eighteen months, after which students pick one specialisation and one elective to round out the degree.
Because Holmes is a smaller private provider rather than a sandstone university, the MBA doesn't carry the brand weight of a Group of Eight degree, and it's honest to say most graduates use it as a credential to move into management roles in mid-sized firms or to support a permanent migration pathway, not to break into top-tier consulting or investment banking. Where it does its job well is for someone who already has a business degree or several years of work experience and wants the generalist management toolkit (finance, strategy, people management, research methods) without relocating overseas or taking two years out of the workforce.
