Master of Business Administration (Professional)
Holmes Institute, Multi-campus (Melbourne, Sydney, Gold Coast), Australia
About this program
The Professional variant of Holmes's MBA swaps the standard version's single specialisation-plus-elective tail for a much broader elective bank: eight core units and eight electives, which can be taken all from one specialisation to produce a focused MBA (Professional) in, say, marketing or international business, or spread across areas for a generalist qualification. It's aimed at students who want more say over the back half of their degree than the standard MBA structure allows.
In practice the two MBA products at Holmes overlap heavily in their core content (accounting, finance, economics, management, strategy), and the choice between them usually comes down to how much a student already knows they want to specialise versus keep options open. Neither carries the recruiting pull of an MBA from a AACSB-accredited research university, so it suits people building a management career step by step rather than those chasing a brand-name credential for a lateral move into strategy consulting.
