Bachelor of International Hotel and Resort Management

International College of Management, Sydney, Manly, NSW, Australia

About this program

This is one of ICMS's founding disciplines. The college began as a hotel and hospitality training institution before broadening into general business degrees, and the hotel and resort management program still carries that institutional memory in the depth of its industry relationships. The course structure runs 12 core subjects, 8 specialisation subjects, 4 electives and 2 Work Integrated Learning subjects, with the WIL component covering up to two trimesters (about nine months combined) of paid or supervised internship placement, commonly inside branded international hotel groups with a Sydney or regional NSW presence.

Specialisation content covers rooms division and front office operations, food and beverage management, revenue management and resort operations specifically (as distinct from urban hotel management), reflecting the realities of Australia's resort sector along the coast and in regional tourism hubs. Electives pull from marketing, tourism, entrepreneurship, event management and sport, so students can shape the degree toward luxury resort management, conference and events, or broader hospitality group leadership depending on where they want to end up.

Graduates commonly move into hotel management trainee programs with international chains, a pathway ICMS has cultivated for decades given its origins, though the degree equally supports resort-specific and boutique property careers less common among city-based hospitality programs.
