Bachelor of Business - Bachelor of Psychological Science

James Cook University, Townsville/Cairns, QLD, Australia

About this program

This is one of JCU's double degrees, letting students complete a business qualification and an accredited psychology sequence concurrently rather than doing them back to back, shaving time off what would otherwise be two separate degrees. It suits students eyeing organisational psychology, human resources or consumer behaviour research, fields that sit squarely between the two disciplines, more than students who know from the outset they want a single clear specialisation.

The psychology component follows the standard Australian Psychology Accreditation Council-accredited structure (research methods, statistics, developmental and social psychology, cognitive psychology) needed to keep the postgraduate psychology pathway open, while the business side draws on core management, marketing, accounting and economics units. Because it's a combined degree, credit points are shared efficiently across genuinely overlapping content like statistics and research methods, rather than students repeating equivalent material twice.

Graduates typically move into HR, market research, organisational development or consulting roles that value the cross-disciplinary combination, or continue into an accredited fourth-year psychology program (Honours or Graduate Diploma) if aiming for registration as a psychologist.
