MBA (Health Services Management)

Kaplan Business School, Multi-campus (Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane), Australia

About this program

This is the health services specialisation running inside KBS's standard MBA chassis: same six core subjects on leadership, governance, financial literacy, consumer behaviour and cultural intelligence, capped off with the same strategy capstone, but three of the elective slots are swapped for a dedicated health services management block. That's a meaningful distinction from a standalone Master of Health Administration: students here graduate with an MBA, not a health-specific credential, which suits people aiming for general management roles inside hospitals, aged care providers or health insurers rather than clinical or health-policy careers specifically.

The specialisation content covers managing healthcare teams, service delivery models and the operational and workforce pressures particular to the sector: rostering clinical staff, navigating funding models tied to Medicare and private health insurance, and the compliance load that comes with operating in a heavily regulated industry. Given how much of Australia's health workforce is trained overseas and re-credentialed locally, and how many KBS postgraduate students are themselves international, the cohort composition for this specialisation tends to include a real mix of people already working clinically who want a move into management, alongside career changers from unrelated industries.

It runs on the same trimester calendar as the base MBA (12 subjects, six trimesters, two years full-time), with the option to compress or extend the pace, and is offered across the same national campus network plus online delivery.
