MBA (Project Management)

Kaplan Business School, Multi-campus (Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane), Australia

About this program

Project Management is one of the eight specialisation tracks layered onto KBS's standard MBA structure, and it's aimed squarely at students who want PM methodology and credentials attached to a general management degree rather than a narrower Master of Project Management. The six core MBA subjects (leadership, governance, financial literacy, consumer behaviour, cultural intelligence, and the strategy capstone) stay the same; what changes is three of the elective slots, replaced with subjects covering the full project lifecycle: initiation and scoping, risk analysis, team leadership under project constraints, and evaluating project outcomes against original business cases.

KBS pitches the specialisation as "industry-informed," and in practice that shows up in the electives sitting alongside genuinely commercial content rather than an academic treatment of PMBOK theory alone. Students in this track often pair the project subjects with electives in digital marketing or business analytics to build toward specific industries (construction, IT delivery, health infrastructure) rather than treating project management as a discipline in isolation. That flexibility is really the point of doing this as an MBA specialisation instead of a dedicated postgraduate PM degree: graduates come out with the broader people-management and strategy grounding of an MBA, with project delivery skills as the differentiator on top.

Same trimester structure as the base MBA: 12 subjects, six trimesters, two years full-time, available across the national KBS campus network and online, with Recognition of Prior Learning available for students who've already managed projects professionally and can demonstrate it against specific subjects.
