About this program
This combined degree pairs La Trobe Business School's commerce core with the university's APAC-accredited psychological science stream, aimed at students who want a genuine double credential rather than a psychology minor tacked onto a business degree. It runs longer than either component alone, and the pairing shows up in career outcomes that are less obvious than a straight psych or straight commerce path: organisational psychology, HR analytics, and consumer behaviour research roles draw specifically on graduates who can do both the statistics-heavy psychology research methods sequence and a genuine accounting or marketing major.
Because the psychological science component still needs to satisfy APAC's Level 1 competency requirements, students don't get to water down the psych side to make room for commerce. Both halves are taught to the same standard as the standalone degrees, which is why the combined degree takes longer to complete than either on its own.

5 terms of coursework
- Commerce component: Business core (Accounting, Economics, Marketing, Management) plus a commerce major (e.g. Marketing, HR Management, Finance)
Psychological Science component: full APAC Level 1 sequence
- Introduction to Psychology, Biological and Cognitive Psychology, Developmental and Social Psychology, Research Methods and Statistics
- Integrated capstone or research project drawing on both disciplines
- Elective units to complete the combined degree's extended credit point total
