Bachelor of Psychology

This is Murdoch's APAC-accredited undergraduate psychology sequence: three years that lead, for eligible students, into a fourth Honours year rather than being accredited as a stand-alone terminal qualification. Students who complete both years exit eligible for provisional registration with the Psychology Board of Australia, which is the credential that actually matters for anyone planning to practise.

The Honours year is where the degree's research emphasis becomes explicit: students negotiate an original empirical research topic with a supervisor, and the year culminates in both a written thesis and a poster presented at a research conference, a dual output that mirrors how psychology researchers actually communicate findings, rather than a thesis alone. Advanced coursework alongside the research project balances theoretical grounding with the practical and professional issues graduates will face applying psychology in clinical, organisational or community settings.

Because Honours places are typically limited relative to the number of students completing the pass degree, students planning to progress need to maintain competitive grades through years one to three, a standard feature of Australian psychology accreditation nationwide, not unique to Murdoch, but one that shapes how seriously students need to take GPA management from first year.
