Bachelor of Business

Murdoch University, Perth, WA, Australia

About this program

Murdoch's Bachelor of Business runs on a major-first model. The degree itself is broad, and the substance comes from choosing among majors including Accounting, Banking, Business Law, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Finance, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Human Resources Management (with AHRI accreditation available), Management, and Marketing. Because majors are tied to the degree rather than offered as standalone qualifications, students effectively pick their specialisation after enrolling rather than applying into it directly.

An elective Work Integrated Learning program is the degree's most concrete differentiator: students take on real projects and internships with organisations that have included local government bodies, Myer, and RAC Arena, giving business students the kind of client-facing experience that's usually reserved for professional-track degrees like law or engineering. It's optional rather than compulsory, so outcomes vary a lot depending on whether a given student opts in.

The core skill set the university emphasises (critical thinking, financial literacy, data-informed decision-making, ethics) reads as fairly standard business-school language, but the WIL placements are where the degree's actual differentiation from a generic business degree shows up in practice.
