Master of Education (Educational Leadership)

Aimed at practising teachers and school staff already eyeing (or already in) leadership roles, such as deputy principal, head of department, or curriculum coordinator, rather than at people entering education from scratch, this QUT master's is built around real school-leadership problems: staff management, school improvement planning, change leadership, and the policy environment Queensland schools operate in. Most units assume some teaching or school-based experience, and assessment tasks frequently ask students to apply frameworks to their own school context rather than a hypothetical one.

QUT's education faculty has close relationships with Queensland state and Catholic education systems, and the degree's content reflects current Queensland Department of Education priorities (school improvement frameworks, workforce planning, wellbeing-focused leadership) more than a generic international leadership-theory course would. Students can typically study part-time alongside full-time school roles, which is how most of the cohort completes it.
