Bachelor of Business

Southern Cross University, Lismore/Gold Coast/Coffs Harbour, NSW, Australia

About this program

The Bachelor of Business at Southern Cross gives students a choice most business degrees don't: take one major plus a run of electives and a double internship, or pair the major with a full second major (a "shared major") pulled from another discipline entirely. That second path is the more distinctive one: a marketing major paired with a psychology shared major, say, produces a different graduate than the standard single-major business degree most competitors offer.

Majors on offer include business and data analytics, entrepreneurship and innovation, international business, marketing, and tourism and event management, plus professionally accredited specialisations in accounting and financial services for students chasing CPA or CA pathways later. The internship option is double-weighted, meaning it counts for more credit than a standard elective, and gives students actual workplace hours to point to at graduation rather than just coursework.

Given SCU's footprint on the NSW north coast and Gold Coast, the tourism and event management major in particular draws on genuine regional industry connections rather than being a bolt-on to a generic commerce curriculum.
