Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours)

This is Swinburne's APAC-accredited fourth year, the honours qualification students need after an accredited three-year psychology degree if they want to move on to provisional registration and postgraduate training in clinical, organisational or sports psychology, or into psychology research more broadly. Entry is genuinely competitive rather than automatic: Swinburne requires a Distinction average (70%) across third-year core psychology units and at least credit-level results across second and third-year core and major units, with only one unit exception allowed, a real filter rather than a formality.

At 100 credit points it's a single intensive year built around an accredited research thesis alongside advanced coursework, and because the year functions as the gateway into every specialist psychology career path (clinical, forensic, organisational, sport and exercise), Swinburne treats it less as a general capstone and more as a professional screening year.

Graduates who complete it are positioned for the 4+2 or 4+1+1 postgraduate/supervised practice pathways toward psychologist registration with AHPRA, or direct entry into competitive APAC-accredited master's and doctoral programs.
