Bachelor of Business (Hospitality and Hotel Management)
TAFE NSW, Multi-campus, NSW, Australia
About this program
This is the hospitality and hotel management specialisation of TAFE NSW's broader Bachelor of Business, and the placement load makes the distinction obvious: 300 hours minimum, five times the 60-hour minimum set for the marketing and management streams of the same base degree. That reflects how hospitality employers hire, since a degree without extensive documented shift and service-floor experience carries a lot less weight in that industry than one that does.
Students share the same core business foundation as other Bachelor of Business students (management, economics, finance, marketing, business law, communications technologies, statistics) before specialising into hospitality and hotel-specific electives from second year onward, so graduates leave with both general business competence and hotel/hospitality-specific operational knowledge rather than one at the expense of the other.
Given TAFE NSW's long history running vocational hospitality training (commercial cookery, hotel operations, tourism) alongside this degree, students in this stream often have access to industry connections and placement employers built up through the organisation's much larger hospitality training footprint, rather than a placement office that's improvising industry contacts from scratch.
