Bachelor of Nursing

TAFE Queensland's Bachelor of Nursing is built around clinical hours rather than lecture hours. The course schedules 840 hours of Professional Experience Placement across the three years, which clears the 800-hour minimum the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia sets for registration eligibility, and placement blocks are threaded through every year of study instead of stacked at the end.

Before students set foot in a ward, they work through scenarios in TAFE Queensland's simulated hospital wards, which run mock handovers, deteriorating-patient drills and medication rounds under the same documentation standards used in Queensland Health facilities. The course markets itself as "designed by nurses for nurses," and the teaching staff are practising or recently practising RNs rather than career academics, which shows up in how much time is spent on the unglamorous procedural detail of real ward work.

Graduates are eligible to apply for registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (subject to AHPRA requirements) and typically move into acute care, aged care, community health or mental health settings across the Queensland public and private hospital systems.
