Bachelor of the Built Environment (Architecture)

Delivered with the University of Canberra, this degree is part of an Architects Accreditation Council of Australia-accredited pathway that continues into the Master of Architecture, meaning it's structured from year one as the first half of a longer registration pathway rather than a terminal qualification, which matters for students weighing it against a straight university architecture degree.

Work-integrated learning is built into every stage rather than bolted on as a single placement unit: TAFE Queensland promotes a series of "live" projects run with practising architects and design firms, plus internship placements at local, national and international practices. Studio culture leans into critique from working professionals rather than purely academic staff, and coursework is framed around developing "informed critique" of architecture as both creative and professional practice. The ethical and environmental responsibilities of the profession get explicit attention alongside design skill.

Entry is based on entrance rank, and it's a Commonwealth Supported Place, which keeps the cost profile closer to a standard university architecture degree than to a private design school.
