About this program
Torrens' Bachelor of Nursing carries the standard 800-hour clinical placement requirement across hospitals, aged care facilities, community health centres and other industry settings, but it's paired with an on-campus simulation hospital built to mirror real clinical environments before students ever go out on placement: assessment and clinical decision-making, person-centred care and professional communication get practised in a controlled setting first.
One thing Torrens does that's genuinely useful for students rather than just a marketing line: its Clinical Placement Program (CPP) provides paid clinical placements, addressing the unpaid-placement problem that's a live financial issue for nursing students nationally (most Australian nursing degrees still run placements unpaid). It's a relatively recent addition and worth noting because it changes the real cost of doing this degree compared to competitors that haven't moved on it.
Three years full-time, evidence-based curriculum, and graduates are eligible to apply for registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA on completion.

- Year 1: Foundations of Nursing, Anatomy and Physiology, Health Assessment, Professional Communication in Health, first simulation-hospital placements
- Year 2: Pathophysiology and Pharmacology, Mental Health Nursing, Acute Care Nursing, Nursing the Older Person, clinical placements in hospital and aged care settings
- Year 3: Complex and Critical Care Nursing, Primary Health Care, Research and Evidence-Based Practice, Transition to Professional Practice, final clinical placement block
- Clinical placement: minimum 800 hours across hospital, aged care, community health and industry settings, with paid placement available through Torrens' Clinical Placement Program (CPP)
