Bachelor of Design (Graphic and Communication Design)

Torrens University Australia, Multi-campus, national, Australia

About this program

This runs under Torrens' Billy Blue design school brand, and the course content pushes well past traditional graphic design into service design and CX: alongside brand strategy, packaging and storytelling, students work through UI/UX design and design thinking methodologies aimed at digital product work, not just print and identity design.

The signature subject is Design Studio, which is run deliberately like a working creative agency: students respond to briefs in small teams and are expected to defend design decisions to a "client" rather than simply submit finished artwork for grading. Sustainability in design also gets explicit curriculum time, which is a newer addition reflecting where the industry itself has moved.

Delivered across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane campuses plus online, full-time, part-time or accelerated. Graduates go into art direction, UX design, graphic design, web and exhibition design, and branding/advertising/marketing specialist roles, a wider spread than "graphic designer" alone, reflecting how much of the later curriculum is aimed at digital and strategic design work.
