About this program

The Master of Data Science is a two-year, full-time program built around a flexible 12-credit-point core rather than a rigid unit list: students can mix and match from units like Business Intelligence Systems, Database Systems, Artificial Intelligence Techniques, Soft Computing, Data Analytics and Business Intelligence, and Computer Vision and Image Analysis, unless they want a named specialisation printed on their testamur.

Three specialisation tracks are on offer: Sports Analytics, Business Intelligence, and Artificial Intelligence and Computational Modelling. Sports Analytics is a distinctly UC offering, drawing on the same AIS and elite-sport connections that shape the university's exercise science program, applied here to performance data rather than physiology.

Work Integrated Learning is again a required element rather than an optional extra, with students applying data science methods to a real industry problem before graduating. UC pitches this as the point of difference against more theory-heavy data science masters elsewhere.
