About this program
UC's Bachelor of Government sits within the Canberra School of Government and Policy and is built around the university's location in the middle of the federal public service: something the course leans on hard, given how many of its students already work in or alongside government departments based in the ACT.
Core units introduce politics, economics, law and management before students choose a major in Economics, Politics and International Relations, or Public Policy and Administration. The emphasis is consistently on how decisions actually get made and implemented at each level of government, rather than abstract political theory.
The course is offered flexibly, with some units delivered entirely online, which suits students who are already in public-sector roles and studying part time toward a formal qualification in government and policy work rather than starting a graduate career from zero.
