About this program

UC's Bachelor of Information Technology sits inside the Faculty of Science and Technology and lets students specialise in one of four areas: Cloud Computing and the Internet of Things, Cybersecurity and System Administration, Data Science, or Robotics and Artificial Intelligence. Only three majors total (core, specialist and breadth) can be completed across the degree, which keeps the structure from sprawling into an unfocused generalist qualification.

Students take at least 24 credit points as a breadth major, minor or set of individual units drawn from outside IT altogether, a deliberate design choice that pushes technical students into some contact with other disciplines rather than three years of pure computing units.

Graduates with a strong GPA can progress directly into a one-year Honours program in the ITS discipline, useful for anyone eyeing research or a PhD pathway in cybersecurity, data science or AI rather than heading straight into industry.
