Diploma in Theology

University of Divinity, Melbourne, VIC, Australia

About this program

The Diploma in Theology is the University of Divinity's entry-level credential, shorter than the three-year bachelor degrees and pitched at students testing whether formal theological study suits them, those wanting a foundational qualification for a church or parachurch role without a full degree commitment, or students planning to build credit toward a Bachelor of Theology or Bachelor of Ministry later; completed units typically count toward the bachelor's degree if a student decides to continue.

It draws on the same four-field structure as the university's bachelor degrees (Humanities, Biblical Studies, Christian Thought and History, and Mission and Ministry), just compressed into a shorter, more introductory sequence, and like the rest of the university's offerings it's delivered through one of the constituent colleges rather than a single central faculty.

Graduates commonly move into entry-level church ministry support roles, or use the diploma as a stepping stone into a full bachelor's program once they've confirmed the direction suits them.
