Master of Business Administration
University of Melbourne, Melbourne, VIC, Australia
About this program
Melbourne Business School's MBA is one of the older and more established programs in the country. MBS traces back to the Mount Eliza management training campus that Melbourne University absorbed decades ago, and while the residential campus at Mount Eliza itself is no longer the primary teaching site, the program's history means it has a genuinely deep alumni network across Australian corporate leadership that a newer MBA can't replicate.
The full-time program is case-study heavy in the traditional style and runs a real cohort model: most students go through the core year in lockstep rather than picking their own subject order, which builds the kind of tight cohort bonds MBA marketing always claims but that don't always materialise in more flexible, part-time-friendly programs elsewhere. Electives open up in the second half, letting students specialise toward finance, strategy, or entrepreneurship.
MBS runs its own dedicated careers and industry-engagement operation separate from the university's general careers service, reflecting the fact that MBA recruiting (investment banks, consulting firms, corporate graduate leadership programs) works on a different calendar and process than typical graduate recruitment, and the school has built specific relationships with those employers over a long period.
