Bachelor of Psychological Science

UNE's psychological science degree is APAC accredited, putting graduates on the standard first-stage pathway toward provisional psychologist registration, and the program has built a genuinely strong distance-education infrastructure around psychology specifically. Statistics and research methods units, which are usually the hardest content to teach remotely, run with structured online tutorials and simulation-based data analysis exercises rather than just recorded lectures.

Because such a large share of the cohort studies externally, UNE has invested specifically in making the practical and lab-based components (things that would normally require in-person attendance) work at a distance: online experimental simulations and remote data collection exercises substitute for some of what an on-campus student elsewhere would do in a physical lab.

The honours pathway, required for provisional registration under the national accreditation scheme, is competitive on GPA like anywhere else, and UNE's smaller psychology department means the honours cohort each year is modest in size but gets correspondingly close supervision: students doing the honours thesis often work directly and consistently with the same academic across the full year rather than a more diffuse supervision arrangement.
