Master of Nursing Practice (Preregistration)

This is UNE's graduate-entry nursing qualification for people who already hold a degree in something else and want to become registered nurses without repeating a full three-year undergraduate program. The compressed structure covers the same registration-standard content as the Bachelor of Nursing but assumes graduate-level academic maturity, so the pace through anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology content in the early units is noticeably faster than an undergraduate-entry program.

Clinical placements run through the same regional New England hospital and health service network as UNE's undergraduate nursing degree, Armidale Rural Referral Hospital and partner regional facilities, giving graduate-entry students the same exposure to rural and regional nursing practice that shapes UNE's whole nursing offering, rather than routing them through a separate, more metropolitan placement network.

Because the cohort already has a prior degree, UNE's program tends to attract a genuinely varied mix of career-changers, former teachers, allied health assistants, people coming out of unrelated science degrees, and the intensity of the compressed timeline means students describe it as demanding in a different way than the undergraduate degree, less about adjusting to university study and more about absorbing clinical content at speed.
