Bachelor of Philosophy

A distinctive offering shaped by Notre Dame's Catholic identity: unlike a standard philosophy major bolted onto a BA, this is a dedicated degree with a strong grounding in the history of philosophy, from ancient through medieval to modern, alongside contemporary ethics, metaphysics, and philosophy of religion. The faculty includes specialists in Thomistic and Catholic intellectual tradition scholarship structured in a way you won't find at a secular university.

It draws a genuinely small cohort (this isn't a high-enrolment degree), but that means seminar-style teaching rather than lectures for most of the degree, and students get close engagement with staff on primary texts rather than survey-level treatment.
