Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours)

UQ's psychology school is one of the largest and most research-active in the country, with active labs in areas ranging from clinical and cognitive psychology to social identity research, the latter a genuine UQ specialty, given the school is home to some of the researchers behind widely cited social identity and group processes theory that gets taught internationally. The Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) is a four-year embedded honours degree rather than a separate bolt-on year, meaning honours entry (competitive, GPA-gated) is built into the program's structure from the start rather than treated as an optional extra.

Because the school is so large, students get access to a wide spread of research areas for their honours thesis, supervised individually, and the school's own on-campus clinics (including for things like the treatment of anxiety and other clinical presentations) give some students supervised client-facing experience during their degree, a step up from purely coursework-based training.

The degree is APAC accredited, positioning graduates for further postgraduate training: provisional psychologist registration, and eventually a masters or doctorate in clinical, forensic, or organisational psychology, areas where UQ's own postgraduate programs are strong and where honours graduates get a genuine leg up in admission.
