Bachelor of Laws (Honours)

UQ Law School is consistently rated among the top two or three in the country, and the LLB (Honours) benefits from that reputation in ways that show up in specific programs: its Pro Bono Centre places students in real supervised legal work with community legal centres and Legal Aid Queensland, and the law school runs one of the more active international mooting programs in Australia, regularly sending teams to competitions like the Willem C. Vis arbitration moot in Vienna.

Students take the LLB combined with another degree (arts, commerce, science, and others are common pairings), which stretches the program to five years but means graduates leave with genuine breadth rather than a law-only credential. UQ also has particular research strength in areas like international law and human rights, taught by academics with real practice or UN-adjacent backgrounds, and third and fourth-year elective offerings reflect that rather than sticking to a generic elective list.

Brisbane's legal market is smaller than Sydney's or Melbourne's, but UQ graduates dominate hiring at the state's top-tier firms and at the Queensland Bar, and the law school's clerkship placement rates into those firms are a large part of why the program remains competitive to enter despite Queensland having several other law schools to choose from.
