About this program

This is the degree UniSQ points its own Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) graduates toward, and it functions as the next rung on the registration ladder for students who've done the four-year undergraduate sequence and want to keep moving toward broader practice rights rather than stopping at provisional registration. The course combines advanced coursework in assessment, intervention, and professional ethics with a substantial supervised practicum placement: the applied hours are the actual point of the degree, not a formality attached to it.

Students work with clients under supervision as part of the practicum component, building the direct-practice hours AHPRA expects to see before general registration, and the coursework side covers assessment techniques, evidence-based interventions, and the professional and ethical frameworks that govern psychological practice in Australia.

Because UniSQ runs a large distance cohort, the placement component is coordinated across a wider geographic spread of supervising psychologists and services than a metro-only program would need, which in practice means students in regional Queensland aren't stuck waiting for a city-based placement to open up.
