About this program
Nursing at UniSQ is delivered from a regional base (Toowoomba and Ipswich rather than inner-city Brisbane), which shapes where a lot of its clinical placements happen: students get real exposure to rural and regional health settings that metro-heavy nursing schools often can't offer as standard, alongside placements in larger hospital systems. The degree is accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and graduates sit for AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse on completion.
The course structure follows the pattern most Australian nursing degrees use: foundational anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology units in first year, building toward specialty clinical units (mental health, paediatrics, aged care, acute care) in second and third year, with supervised clinical placement hours threaded through every year rather than saved for the end. Admissions
Completion of Australian Year 12 (Queensland Certificate of Education) or equivalent, no specific ATAR cut-off, plus a Health Undertaking and National Police Check; relevant recognition of prior learning available for enrolled nurses.
