Bachelor of Psychology (Honours)

UniSQ's Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) is a four-year, APAC-accredited sequence built for students who already know they want provisional registration at the end of it, not just a psychology-adjacent arts degree. The first three years share a common set of foundational units with the university's other psych-flavoured degrees, so students who start here and change their mind about the honours pathway aren't locked in early. The divergence happens later, once the fourth-year research component kicks in.

That fourth year is where the degree earns its name. Students complete an honours research project (PSY4000) alongside units in advanced research methods, ethical and professional practice, and applied assessment and intervention skills, working under the supervision of academic staff who are themselves practising or research psychologists. Because a large share of UniSQ's cohort studies externally, the clinical and assessment skills components are built around structured on-campus intensives and simulated client work rather than assuming everyone is walking past a psych clinic on campus daily.

Graduates come out eligible for provisional registration as a psychologist with AHPRA, which is the real value proposition of choosing the Honours pathway over a plain Bachelor's: it's the entry ticket to supervised practice or further postgraduate study toward general or clinical registration. UniSQ explicitly positions this degree as a pipeline into its own Master of Professional Psychology, so students planning that far ahead can map out a five-plus-one style progression from day one.
