Sydney's software engineering degree sits within the same faculty as the university's strong computer science research base, and students get exposure to genuine research areas: the Australian Institute for Machine Learning and the university's cybersecurity research groups feed into elective offerings in a way that a purely vocational software degree wouldn't provide.
