Bachelor of Psychological Science

The Bachelor of Psychological Science is the accredited undergraduate entry point into psychology in Australia, built to the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council standard that any student aiming for provisional registration and eventual practice needs. At Tasmania it's taught through a psychology department with a long research profile in areas like cognitive neuroscience and mental health, and undergraduates get exposure to active research labs earlier than at some larger universities simply because cohort sizes are smaller and staff-to-student contact is closer.

The degree covers the core content areas APAC mandates (biological bases of behaviour, cognition, developmental and social psychology, statistics and research methods), building toward fourth-year Honours as the next required step for anyone pursuing registration as a psychologist, which the bachelor's degree alone doesn't confer.
