About this program
The Bachelor of IT at UTS is the shorter, more direct sibling of the engineering-accredited Software Engineering degree: three years rather than four, and structured around a major rather than a full engineering practice sequence. It suits students who know they want to work in tech but aren't chasing an Engineers Australia-accredited qualification specifically.
Majors have included enterprise systems development, games development, information systems and technology, and networking, and because the course sits within the same faculty (FEIT) as the Master of IT and the software engineering degree, subjects and even some teaching staff overlap across levels, a strength when it comes to breadth of games or systems electives, since the faculty has invested in that infrastructure across several award levels rather than one.
UTS's inner-city Ultimo campus gives students easy access to internships with nearby tech employers, and the course includes an explicit professional practice subject aimed at getting students placement- and job-ready rather than leaving that entirely to careers services.

- Duration: 3 years full-time
- Year 1: Programming Fundamentals, Introduction to Information Systems, Web Systems, Mathematics for IT
- Year 2: Data Structures and Algorithms, Database Fundamentals, Systems Analysis and Design, major subjects begin
- Year 3: Major electives (Enterprise Systems / Games Development / Networking / Information Systems), IT Professional Practice, Industry Project subject
- Majors (choose one): Enterprise Systems Development, Games Development, Networking, Information Systems and Technology
- Capstone: industry-based project subject in final year, often with an external client

Completion of Australian Year 12 (or equivalent); ATAR approximately 80 (guaranteed entry lower with adjustment factors)
