Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology)

The Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology) is UniSC's standard three-year accredited pathway into professional psychology, structured so graduates who want to keep going can move directly into the one-year Honours program, which is separately APAC-accredited and required for anyone continuing toward registration as a psychologist. The Honours year is genuinely research-heavy: students complete a dissertation (PSY408A/B) alongside advanced coursework in statistics, ethics, and the legislative framework governing psychological practice in Australia, rather than honours being a token add-on year.

UniSC also runs a combined Behavioural Science (Psychology) / Counselling degree for students who want dual accreditation pathways (APAC alongside the Australian Counselling Association and PACFA), which is a slightly unusual offering. Most universities keep counselling and psychology as fully separate degrees rather than building a combined pathway.

The standard bachelor's on its own doesn't lead to registration; it's the first stage of a longer pathway (Honours, then postgraduate training or supervised practice) that mirrors the national psychology registration requirements everywhere in Australia, so students need to plan the full sequence rather than assuming the bachelor's alone gets them into practice.
