Bachelor of Criminology and Justice

Criminology and Justice at UniSC covers the expected sociological and legal foundations of the field (theories of crime, criminal justice systems, victimology), but the program has a practical bent toward the actual justice sector employers in Queensland: police, corrections, youth justice, and community services organisations. Students typically complete a work-integrated learning placement in their final year with one of these agencies rather than finishing the degree on coursework alone.

The Sunshine Coast region's demographic mix (a growing population, a significant retiree community, and pockets of real socioeconomic disadvantage inland from the coast) gives the program's community and justice case studies a genuinely local texture rather than pulling every example from interstate or overseas.

Graduates commonly move into policy or operational roles in corrections, youth justice, victim support services, or further study toward psychology, social work or law, and the degree is often taken as one half of a combined degree (paired with criminology and psychology, or with justice and legal studies) for students who know early they want a specific combination of skills.
